Arrowhead Sagittaria latifolia

Arrowheads are common in marshes and swamps, and are very distinctive and easy to recognize. This picture mostly shows its beautiful white flowers, but you can see a few of the arrow-shaped leaves in the picture as well. Arrowheads have an edible potato-like root which was widely harvested by Native Americans, and is still enjoyed by ducks and muskrats and other swamp-dwelling animals today.
